The 1st month was very uncomfortable.  I tried staying drunk for the 1st week and found it rather unfulfilling and counter productive. With my new found interest in trying new things, I’ve discovered that life is an adventure. I’m in Los Vegas this week on business. Yesterday I stopped into a high end skincare shop. They offer products like a non surgical facelift for $5500. I decided to get a facial and ended up spending $800 0n products. It was a fascinating process. 3 Ways Perfectionism Kills Innovation. So much of the trepidation around innovation and creativity comes from the fear of screwing it all up. The anxiety of entertaining the idea that whatever you’re thinking about or working on will blow up in your face, or wreck your career, or make you look like a total idiot. You’re scared of appearing flawed or vulnerable, or showing off an idea that everyone else will gleefully drag through the mud — basically, it’s the fear of not being perfect. via Beyond the Great Idea: November Roll-Up

Gratitude creates happiness

The amazing power of gratitude

I’ve been deeply engrossed in the creation of a course for personal and business development, for release in Jan. 2014. In that process, I’ve discovered the incredible

Gratitude and happiness

Gratitude

power of gratitude. To access a flow state gratitude is essential. Flow is that magical state during which you access heightened reality. I’ve experienced it as a profession musician, public speaker and most recently, during the writing and recording of the material for my course. I started the journey as an interesting entrepreneurial project and found the most exciting adventure I’ve ever undertaken. I encourage you to examine and practice gratitude each day of your life. What you will find is breathtaking.

A genuine sense of gratitude is rooted in the realization that when I think about all that I am, all that I have, and all that I might have achieved, I cannot claim to have done any of this by myself. None of us is really “self-made.” We must all acknowledge the importance of the help, advice, comfort and loyalty that came from others.

Gratitude can flow not just to individuals but also to a family, a neighborhood, a society or a nation. We don’t choose the family into which we are born or the environment our parents fostered.

Family and gratitude

Gratitude and family

If we’re generally happy, might our disposition owe at least in part to our upbringing, or perhaps even to accidental genetic forces? If we belong to a once oppressed group, we are in debt to those who waged battles that have brought us closer to equal treatment. We enjoy a natural world that was conserved for us, even if it has sometimes been despoiled. via What Gratitude Requires | RealClearPolitics

As much as being grateful should not be exclusively celebrated one day per year, we do have a day dedicated to giving thanks coming up pretty soon. And so, to help you prepare for an entire day of looking on the bright side, here are 5 TED talks to get you in a grateful mood.via 5 TED Talks to Get You in a Grateful Mood This Thanksgiving

Sometime in the coming weeks, you and yours will probably share notes on the things for which you’re thankful.

Perhaps you’ll take the basic approach, where everyone at the table mentions one thing. Or you’ll ask everyone to write an affirming note of some sort on every guest’s place card. Or distribute a pre-meal questionnaire.

But after a few tears and belly laughs, you may also wonder why you and your children don’t do this kind of thing more often. There is a fast-growing collection of studies around gratitude and its links to everything from stronger immune systems to better divorces. And while the study of gratitude in children is still in its early stages, evidence is also emerging that it can help them too.via How to Start a Year-Round Family Gratitude Ritual – NYTimes.com

Passion’s success

I’ve been focused on creating an in depth business and personal development course for release in January 2014.  It’s been an amazing journey of discovery. I started the project

Follow your passion

Passion for success

as my latest entrepreneurial adventure and am finding something much more amazing. The creation of the course is transforming how I think and my view reality. Amazing things are occurring on a daily basis. Resources are appearing out of thin air. I’ve discovered the discipline of bliss. I start each day envisioning my perfect life. It’s a process of setting intention as I want them. I can’t explain exactly all that is happening, only that it has elevated my level of gratitude and happiness profoundly.

I started with $2,000, lost money in the first two months, became profitable in the third month and just kept reinvesting profits into the company.

The upside is a company that is built around my passions – meditation, personal growth, play, culture, travel and epic interior design (our offices are magical). And having total ownership means I’m not pressured by partners, boards or investors to deliver something that I’m not passionate about. But the climb was hard and long. And I almost lost it all on multiple occasions. I’ve made dumb mistakes. I’ve had dizzying successes. I’ve been depressed and I’ve been high on success.

Most of all — I’ve learned and grown. And I want to share some advice.via Founder Vishen Lakhiani Shares 5 Lessons Learned Bootstrapping

A Whole Brain for a Whole Person

I’ve lived a large portion of my life doing things the hard way. It was all I understood. Hard work alone is not the key to success. What I thought I wanted and what I really needed have turned out to be completely different. I slaved an sacrificed working to be happy at some time in the future. I now study what I truly love and it has completely

transformed my life. The process of life is now the purpose. I and on fire with passion discovering new resources every day. Wouldn’t it be wonderful If we brought up children with the whole person in mind. What would that mean to solutions of world problems and happiness.

I was given this book last year when my daughter was just a few months old. At first I barely had time to read the title…but I have since come up for air and have read it and LOVE IT!

Daniel Siegel explains how important it is to integrate both the left and right sides of our brains, hence, The Whole Brain Child. In chapter after chapter he demonstrates how walking our children through their early life experiences helps integrate the 2 brain hemispheres. Business Stripped Bare

In the creation of my Designing Success course I’ve been ready every day. One of the books I read was written by the billionaire Richard Branson. I am no longer realistic in my goals. I am running on intuition.

Richard Branson is founder and head of the multi-billion dollar Virgin Group, which includes over 300 companies. This book

reads like an intimate journal of Richard Branson’s musings and anecdotes. It feels like you are chatting with Richard over a tea or beer. You’ll discover insights into his visions, fears, values, failures, triumphs and advice. It’s a worthwhile read.

These excerpts offer the insights from the book that resonated most with me:

You have to protect against the downside. We all need to be aware that small, lean, entrepreneurial businesses are now the

I had never been interested in business. I’ve been interested in creating things.

Ethics aren’t just important in business. They are the whole point of business. We’re in business to make things. And when you decide what to make, that is an ethical decision.

Connection with social media

Connecting with customers

Connecting with your customer base

I’ve run a lot of test campaign this year. Some were great others really flopped. When comparing the two categories one thing ring true. Those ads that were a hit spoke from my heart. Those that flopped sounded hollow. Once I discovered that simple truth, I put in place a simple process. I start each day with a review of my purpose.  Next I visualise what I wish to accomplish short and long term. Before I create an ad, I read uplifting material centering me on my higher purpose. People those values resonate with my message and respond. Marketing is not a tick, it’s a communication about shared values. Ideal clients are attracted to those with whom they feel kinship.

It’s often not hard to see why other brands have died – especially after the fact. There’s also one interesting and abiding constant in all the casualties. What kills a brand, more often than not, is what it lacks rather than what it does: conviction; energy; value; humility; cash; discipline; imagination; focus …Your new product or service failed. The message matters

Content that fails to deliver sincere value to readers is a waste of time and resources. It better to post less often and give something worth ready then to crank out volumes of empty tripe daily. Produce content the reader look forward to and you’re on your way to customer engagement and profits.

Content marketing is easy, doesn’t take much time, can be automated, is inexpensive, and can be handled by an intern, right? Wrong! If you’re a brand thinking of investing in content marketing, don’t fall for any of these misconceptions. via 5 Content Marketing Myths

Successful social selling

What is social media marketing anyway?

Like all new red hot trends, social media solutions have been overstated and misunderstood. Social media is only a tool for expression. Used properly, it allows us to connect with

others. Building goodwill requires trust. Trust is built over time by providing value. A social media strategy does not supplant sincerity but rather magnifies its presence or lack there of. When I first started using social media it was as if I wasn’t myself. I was attempting to present a persona that I thought would impress. The result was a lack of connecting, on any meaningful level, with the people I was attempting to reach. Over time, I found my voice and those with whom my message resonated.  My efforts are now an extension of my desire to connect with people. Since that transition social media is a friendly tool, allowing me to bring value to an ever increasing audience.

Now that there’s only a smidgen left of 2013, it’s fair to say that the year wasn’t a giant win for social media marketers — at least in terms of public perception. Up until recently, brands have been clamoring to shore up a social media staff and extol the business-saving…Please visit Marketing Land for the full article.via How To Be Eternally Indispensable In Your Social Media Job

transaction. The beauty of social media is the opportunity to communicate with people all over the world so take advantage of it by meet new people and participating in conversations that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to engage in.via 3 Rules of Engagement for Successful Social Selling

It’s all about connecting with people

I love public speaking. For years is has been a source of great personal satisfaction. There is nothing like the exhilaration of connection with an audience. I guess it is leftover from my years as a professional guitar player. I’ve learned to tap that resource to build and lead several companies.  Many people believe it’s a talent you either have or not. I believe it’s a skill that can be  cultivated by anyone willing to practice the skill.

Good communication is at the core of good leadership. And speaking from who you are gives you credibility—an earned authority—and opens the door for you to turn listeners into followers. When you connect with an audience from who you are, you are speaking authentically. You have leadership presence. via Speaking with Presence

Innovate or die, is the mantra of the times. All companies, no matter how large or small, must assess and adjust rapidly just to survive. Embrace that reality and thrive. It can be exciting and fun. In the last 12 months I’ve reinvented myself and my entire business. The result are making a lot more money, in less time, while having a lot more fun.

The call for organisations to be innovative is becoming deafening. Building a trusted brand

There is a balance in creating trust. You must be consistent and at the same time

innovative. Do these sound like the exact antithesis of one another? Keeping a brand relevant requires an on going connection between you and your customer. It’s a lot like dating, if you over promise and under deliver the relationship fails. Deliver what your research shows your buyers need and evolve with them as the two of you grow closer over time. Branding isn’t an abstract idea on a white broad, it’s the relationship between you and or your company and real people.

“Brands mirror that humanity in the pace at which they are increasingly asked to compete. And that pace is simultaneously handbrake and accelerator.  Handbrake – in that customers want consistency. They want brands they can recognize, that they feel they know, that make sense to them, that they can depend on. They want brands that they can just reach for, without giving them a second thought. They want brands that feel like part of their normal, ordinary lives. via Brand Strategy Dilemma: Recognition vs Excitement

Anyone can innovate with purpose

Innovation is a creative process. Most of us concluded at an early time in our life that we either were or were not creative. In “Creative Confidence” by Tom and David Kelley, that dea has proven to be untrue. In fact the book demonstrates that we are all naturally creative and given the right opportunity and encouragement can do amazing things.

For years now we’ve been told that innovation is strange and unusual, but promises great possibilities and potential returns. We’ve been regaled with stories about noted innovators, individuals and corporations, who demonstrate how to

I’ve been practicing creative visualization as part of a peak performance course I’ll be releasing in December. Each day I focus my attention on my purpose. That process has transformed the way I write. I now create content on purpose and the results have been amazing.

Jay Abraham, in his bestselling book “Sticking Point” talks about being “Preeminence” in the marketplace. He suggest that you add  “In your service” to everything you do for your clients. Care more, give more by paying close attention to what your clients are saying. Continuously stay in touch with changing buyer sentiment. Use testimonials and recommendation constantly. Know your strengths and weaknesses and cater to the former. Let your clients know what you do best and where you are weak. Don’t try to be all things to all people. Focus on attracting only your ideal clients and provide them unparalleled service. Extol your achievements, as they relate to serving you clients. Look at each relationship as long term. Theses are the essential elements in getting your product or service wanted by clients and building a long term successful business.
